Paper only looks as good as the wall behind it.

Wallpaper is newer for MK Painting, and Mitch took it on the way he takes on everything: slowly, carefully, and with a lot of prep. Since early 2026 he has hung bold florals, magnolia prints, grasscloth and a full mural in an 1807 farmhouse.

Old walls are rarely flat, and paper shows every flaw. So the walls are skim coated and primed before the first strip goes up, and the pattern is planned from the most visible corner out. Trim and wainscot are painted to finish the room.

In the farmhouse, Mind the Gap's Gardens of Jaipur went up over skim-coated plaster, with the woodwork finished in Fine Paints of Europe Hollandlac Satin. Mitch calls it one of his favorite rooms.

Do you remove old wallpaper?

Yes. Old paper is stripped, the adhesive is cleaned off and the walls are repaired and primed before anything new goes up or any paint is rolled.

Who buys the wallpaper?

You choose the paper. Mitch checks the room measurements and pattern repeat before you order so there is enough to match every seam.
