Venetian Plaster & Limewash in Schwenksville, PA

Venetian plaster, Portola Roman Clay and lime wash for feature walls, range hoods, fireplaces and whole rooms, hand-applied with real movement and depth. Serving Montgomery, Bucks and Chester Counties.

Venetian Plaster & Limewash

Walls with depth you can feel under your hand.

Flat paint reflects light evenly. Plaster and lime finishes don't, and that is the point: the color shifts as you walk past it, and the wall has a soft, mineral feel.

Mitch works in three families of finish. Lime wash goes on thin with a large crosshatch stroke, then a tighter second coat; on one recent room he used Portola Lime Wash in Jay for an airy, cloudy effect and sealed it with a clear coat. Portola Roman Clay is troweled for soft movement, like the French farmhouse he finished in Elizabeth 1. Venetian plaster is built up and burnished for the most depth of all.

These finishes suit a feature wall, a range hood, a primary bedroom accent, a fireplace, a powder room or a whole room. Mitch will make samples so you can see the finish in your own light first.

“Mitch did a great job painting almost my entire house during a substantial renovation. He was very flexible with a moving timeline and promptly finished the project when it was possible. He totally transformed rooms in a variety different ways (accent walls, removing popcorn ceilings, and infusing a full pallet of colors in the space). I have recommended MK Painting and Custom Finishes to multiple family members and ...”

Questions

Good to know.

Insured, Army veteran owned, and a Fine Paints of Europe certified painter.

What is the difference between lime wash, Roman Clay and Venetian plaster?

Lime wash is a thin, brushed mineral coat with a soft, cloudy look. Roman Clay is a clay-based finish troweled on for gentle movement. Venetian plaster is a lime plaster built up in layers and burnished, which gives the most depth and a soft sheen.

Can these finishes go in a bathroom or kitchen?

Yes, with the right product and a protective topcoat. Mitch will recommend the finish and sealer for the room, and point out where a wipeable paint is the smarter choice.
