Historic Home Restoration in Schwenksville, PA
Cracked plaster, original doors, windows and millwork in old farmhouses, repaired and restored with the right primers and finishes instead of being replaced. Serving Montgomery, Bucks and Chester Counties.
Old houses don't need to be modernized. They need to be repaired.
Mitch learned the trade painting old farmhouses with his dad near Gettysburg, and it is still the work he loves most. Southeastern Pennsylvania is full of these houses: stone farmhouses, 1800s plaster, original doors and windows that have been painted a dozen times.
On one 160-year-old farm home, the crew handled more than 120 cracks and settlement issues in a single phase before any finish went on. The woodwork and doors were finished in Fine Paints of Europe, and Mitch said they had never looked better in their 160-plus years.
The approach is restoration first. In a recent French farmhouse there was no demo at all: just preparation, oil and universal primers, Roman Clay on the walls, and the original doors and windows restored in Hollandlac Satin.

He is a stand up guy and a man of his word. He cares about every detail and takes greats pride in his work. We will continue to use Mitch for future work and have continued to refer him to family and friends. If you need a trustworthy reliable team to transform any area of your home, Mitch and team are your people!”
“We were extremely satisfied with Mitch’s custom paint work. It was the final step for our kitchen remodel and overdue repaint for our living room and downstairs powder room. We also needed drywall repair in several places and you would never know where the drywall was repaired. Awesome job. Mitch comes highly recommended.”
Good to know.
Insured, Army veteran owned, and a Fine Paints of Europe certified painter.
Can cracked plaster be saved?
Usually, yes. Cracks are opened, filled and taped where needed, and walls are skim coated so the plaster stays and the finish goes on smooth.
Do you use oil primers on old woodwork?
On old, previously painted woodwork, yes. Oil and universal primers bond to old coatings and block stains, which gives the finish coats a sound base.
